Located high above the Las Vegas Strip in the exclusive Ascaya Subdivision, The New American Home 2025 exemplifies cutting-edge luxury living. Built by the award-winning design-build firm Sun West Custom Homes, this over 9,000 sq. ft. masterpiece not only offers stunning desert views and sophisticated minimalistic décor, it also showcases next-generation energy-efficiency, sustainability, and state-of-the-art features.

Viewrail is proud to be the official stair and railing partner of The New American Home. Our FLIGHT Cantilever floating stairs and glass railing fit perfectly into this rich, modern design. Each space is carefully crafted to blend seamlessly into the hillside terrain, while floor-to-ceiling glass maximizes breathtaking panoramas of the Las Vegas valley.

The Challenge

For an exhibition home of this caliber, every detail matters. The design team initially planned a locally fabricated steel staircase, but as construction progressed, they realized they needed a solution that was both structurally sound and visually stunning. The challenge? Integrate a show-stopping floating stairway — late in the build process — that could handle the home’s expansive layout and match its sleek, contemporary aesthetic.

“Initially, we were going to make it out of steel and have it locally fabricated and we had created a kind of a design for it. But then we learned Viewrail had virtually everything we were looking to do…”
Daniel S. Coletti, Owner of Sun West Custom Homes

Design and Inspiration

When developing the interior aesthetic for The New American Home 2025, the design team drew inspiration directly from the surrounding desert environment.

The home’s architecture already focuses on an indoor-outdoor connection, utilizing expansive glass panels that frame the rugged Nevada terrain. Viewrail’s floating stairs and glass railings harmonize with this vision by echoing the earthy color palette of the desert, enhancing the natural light that streams through the windows, and incorporating a sleek structural design that mirrors the bold geometry of the local landscape.

By selecting a warm walnut finish for the treads and pairing it with amber-tinted glass, the team was able to capture subtle tones reminiscent of sunlit sands. This approach also ensures that sunlight moves freely throughout the home, preserving sight lines and allowing the exterior views to become part of the interior.

Integrated LED strip lighting under each tread provides a soft glow reminiscent of a warm desert dusk, creating visual continuity between the staircase and the broader design.

The Result — A Showstopping Centerpiece

Entering through the front door of The New American Home 2025, your eye is immediately drawn to the left — where walnut treads appear to float in mid-air, illuminated by a gentle, inviting glow. The amber glass railing adds an upscale, modern flair that complements the home’s open-concept design. Visitors consistently describe the installation in a single word: “amazing.”

“Viewrail was amazing to work with. It was really interesting to watch their design process. Now it’s just a beautiful, show-stopping staircase.”
– Nicole Maier, Assistant Project Manager at Sun West

“When you walk up and down the stairs, you feel no fluctuation. It’s stunning. It’s something you have to see in person.”
