Hickory stair treads match the wood wall behind this staircase perfectly. So perfectly, in fact, that the stairs needed a bit of contrast. So the homeowners chose a system with black onyx rod infill along with a black powder-coated steel stringer. The result was perfection. The deep black of the railing system creates a deep, striking contrast. Meanwhile, thick hickory stair treads will last for years to come.
